HERMIS as a Finalist of the KUKA Innovation Award 2025

November 3, 2025

We are pleased to share that Team HERMIS has been selected as a finalist for the KUKA Innovation Award 2025. HERMIS, developed by EndoSurge, a spin off from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, introduces a new concept in medical imaging: a robot guided, portable low field MRI scanner designed for versatile diagnostic use.

While conventional MRI systems provide excellent image quality, their high cost and infrastructure requirements limit accessibility, especially in smaller clinics and resource constrained regions. Low field MRI has increased global access, yet current portable devices are typically restricted to single region imaging.

HERMIS overcomes these limitations by combining robotic precision with mobile MRI technology, enabling multi region diagnostics in a compact system aimed at expanding clinical reach and improving healthcare equity.

HERMIS will be presented live at MEDICA 2025, where the finalists of the KUKA Innovation Award will showcase their solutions.
