We are pleased to announce the publication of our newly released research article titled:
Modular Opto-Magnetic Oscillators: Harnessing Light to Drive Versatile Materials and Functionalities
Overview
Self-sustained oscillations are fundamental to dynamic systems in nature, from heartbeats and ocean waves to the synchronized flashes of fireflies. Reproducing similar autonomous, out-of-equilibrium behaviors in artificial systems, however, has remained a significant challenge due to the absence of a universal and platform-independent control strategy.
In this work, we introduce an opto-magnetic feedback control approach that enables reliable self-excited oscillations through the combined interaction of light, magnetic fields, and mechanical dynamics. The system is built upon a modular design framework, allowing dynamic plug-and-play integration of driving and deforming modules. This architecture provides exceptional flexibility in terms of material selection, structural configuration, mechanical response, and functional implementation.
